Debz Transport Limited was established by Deborah and Paul Brenssell, two people who have been brought up in the transport industry.

In fact, both families owned transport companies!

We’ve been transporting goods locally and around New Zealand for over 40 years’ so we know what we’re doing, and how to do it efficiently and securely. 

We’re a business that provides transportation and storage services in the Wellington region. We have a proud history of working in this industry and supporting businesses with their transport, storage and logistical needs.

We pride ourselves on providing an excellent service and finding the right solutions for our customers.

Our management team

Deborah O’Brien (Brenssell)

Managing Director

Deborah brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for road transport in New Zealand. As well as being the Managing Director for Debz Transport, Deborah serves on several boards to advocate and be a voice in the transport industry.

  • As a current member of the board for Road Transport New Zealand, Deborah is up to date with the latest news and developments in the industry. She has previously served as Chairperson for this board.

    Deborah has also completed six years as President of CARTA (Central Area Road Transport Association) and is currently a Director of the Road Transport Forum. She is the first female to hold a position in either of the roles and is currently on the Women in Leadership – Advanced Leadership Programme.

 
 

Jeff O’Brien

Operations/ Warehouse Manager

Jeff has been part of our team from day one and keeps our Wingate yard running smoothly. He manages the trucks and general operations in our warehouse. Jeff has a class 5 licence and is a partly qualified mechanic, skills that come in handy when you’re working with vehicles all day.

 

Meet the Debz Transport team

  • David Hepburn - Van Driver

    David is one of our experienced van drivers and has been with Debz Transport for three years. As a van driver, David travels around the Wellington region delivering and collecting freight, and his favourite part of the role is meeting our happy customers. In his spare time, he enjoys watching motor sport.

  • Sharon Hall – Customer Services

    Sharon has been with Debz Transport from the very beginning and is the person regularly in contact with our customers. As part of this role Sharon deals with freight travelling between Auckland and Wellington, and all under bond stock and container movements, including dealing with MPI and Customs. In her spare time Sharon enjoys reading so if you need any good book recommendations, she’s the person to ask.

  • Anthony Marks – Driver

    As a driver for a transport company Anthony’s day is varied. His role includes pick-ups and delivery of freight, and he enjoys being out on the road and meeting people. Anthony has been part of our team for over two years and when he’s not driving for us, he’s playing his base guitar.

  • Benjamin Tromp (Ben) – Truck Driver

    Ben enjoys driving and having the opportunity to interact with our clients. He always strives to exceed customer delivery expectations. He enjoys interacting with clients and helping them in any way he can, whether it’s resolving an issue or making a delivery or pick up as smooth as possible.

  • Ian Dawson – Truck Driver

    Trucks are a passion for Ian so it’s no wonder he became a truck driver for us. Just like his fellow drivers, Ian strives to give our customers the best experience when he is collecting or delivering freight. When he’s not driving our trucks, he’s making model RC trucks and cars.

  • Aydein – Yard man

    Working in a freight company yard means that you get to see a lot of interesting deliveries – one of which is Aydein’s favourite – the motorbikes. Aydein’s role is to keep the yard running smoothly and assisting with arrival and dispatch of items to and from the warehouse.

  • Nick Geismar – Import/ Export Facilitator – Debz Freight Services

    With 14 years’ experience in the air freight industry, Nick is our expert in everything to do with importing and exporting goods. Nick is based at the Debz Freight Services warehouse in Lyall Bay and enjoys helping people to find solutions to challenges and dealing with urgent needs. His hobby is travel, which is no wonder considering he works so close to the Wellington airport!

  • Gemma O’Brien – Truck Driver

    After working as our office administrator for the past nine years, Gemma has swapped the computer for a steering wheel and is now one of our truck drivers. Gemma enjoys the lifestyle that comes with being a truck driver and having the opportunity to travel and meet new people. Growing up in a trucking family she knows a lot about trucks and says there’s nothing better than driving with the window down on a summer’s day.
